Insource

For the last few weeks I've been thinking a lot about the word insource. It's not a common word in a day when so much business and personal life is outsourced, but it's a word I think could serve us all if we did more of it. Especially if we interpret it as going inside ourselves to find answers and create solutions.

Below are a few things we've grown culturally accustomed to outsourcing, that we could all make a concerted effort to insource more of in our personal lives.

Insource your thinking. Turn off the news and other outside voices with agendas, and make space to hear the Spirit in you. Do this and you'll be able to think more critically about life and the world around you. The news is designed to keep us in a never ending fear state, which cripples our ability to think clearly and objectively. Cut it out and watch what happens to your logic, reason, and discernment. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and do that by being careful what you allow into it. Your thinking directs your living, so it's crucial that you possess that life skill.

Insource your health. Fire your doctor (in a manner of speaking), and show up to do the physical work and research required to change your food and fitness habits. Be your own biggest health advocate. If you slow down and listen to your body, you will start to discern what movements, habits, and foods light your body up and positively affect your energy. Do more of those things consistently, and they will eventually choke out the bad habits robbing you of your best life. **I'm not a doctor, I'm simply suggesting that pills should always be the last resort. You can't fix a poor lifestyle and bad habits with a pill. Ever.**

Insource your education. Stop blindly following the crowd into systems and spaces that stunt your creativity, ingenuity, and critical thinking by convincing you that 'white coat' experts know better for your life than you do. Take control of your knowledge acquisition by following channels, teachers, and systems that lead and counsel with integrity in areas of passion and interest that light your soul on fire.

There are a lot of benefits to outsourcing in life and work, but on a personal development level the magic happens at the insource level. It happens when we turn inward and do the hard work for ourselves.

Outsource your lawn care, not your growth, health, and future.
