As You Are

I’m currently 36 pages into book that’s over 700 pages long. Sadly I’m not the type who ever read Harry Potter or Tolkien, so I fear this might take a while… Thankfully it’s double spaced.

The other day I came across a simple, yet powerful, line, “You don’t see the world as it is, you see the world as you are.” It was a powerful thought to sit with, implying that we are the creators of our realities. Unless I’m missing something, which I might be being that I’ve barely started the book, I think the author is implying that the state of our hearts, minds, and beliefs are what ultimately dictate what our experience of life is. If The Law of Attraction is real, then like begets like. Inner sadness, begets outer sadness. Inner hope, begets outer hope. Inner chaos and disorder, begets outer chaos and disorder. Inner peace and love, begets outer peace and love. Get it?

I don’t think I have much to say on the idea, more so that it’s been an interesting idea to sit with. Many, myself included, are prone to play the victim and point the finger anywhere but at self when we want to explain the hard, confusing, stagnant, sad, chaotic times we experience. If we do that we get to avoid the hard work that accompanies taking ownership for the inner world we’ve cultivated, that essentially calls in more of the same.

“You don’t see the world as it is, you see the world as you are.” Have you ever sat with this idea and contemplated your own current state of being in recent seasons? Could you change anything internally that might help you see the world differently?
